Lorenzo Bar's Bamboo Farm
counteract the hydrogeological instability
"Bamboo? I wouldn't recommend it; it's an invasive species." This is the most popular narrative, shared by architects and non-experts alike.
Alright, an invasive plant, you say? What else?
Common knowledge usually stops here, as if its invasiveness is enough to categorize it without deeper study.
Lorenzo Bar, however, a landscape artist, let his curiosity lead him to explore this plant, which exists in 180 different varieties. He started by wondering if all of them were equally invasive and began asking many other questions.
In the end, he created an immense forest on his farm in the province of Cuneo, where conifers and native plants coexist harmoniously with various bamboo species.
Why did he do it? His answer is, "You know about hydrogeological instability? Well, bamboo is a simple, elegant, and sinuous solution."
